Dear Mr . Keipel : This card shows you tthe giant 200 inch lens , but not flawless being moved from factory to display building on the highway . We saw it this afternoon being placed . Allowed to enter only because we were teachers from afar . H . F . Beater & L . C . Cassell " in ink to " Mr . Keipel c/o Mr . C . C . Cassell 1100 E . Main St . Millville New Jersey " Postally used at Corning , New York , August 29th 1939 at 8 - PM . I believe this is the 200 inch Corning Glass Works Pyrex mirror blank for the Hale telescope at the Palomar Observatory . Card shows hard use . There is a puncture at the left edge of the image . Possibly accidental , however more likely for attaching in a file . Photographer not known .
