states the engagement was with the " Confederates under the
command of John S . Mosby near Warrenton Junction . the wound
being caused by Grape and Canister Shot . Two balls passing through
the upper third of Left Thigh in close proximity to the Femoral Artery . "
further that Barker returned to duty within three months with the wound unhealed .
