                  Dear Sir : -
I am writing you herewith " Declaration  for Widow's Pension "
of Alcinda Abbott , widow of Manning Abbott .
I would like to ask you about how long it will be before
Mrs . Abbott can get this as she is anxious to know . of course . I
am not in position to tell her .
I will say that I would like hurry this along for her
as fast as possible , for I realize that the veterans of the civil war
and their widows are all getting old and passing away . My father was
one of the boys and I have made it a rule never to charge an old
soldier or an old soldier's widow a cent at any time for any service
I render them in connection with any pension matters .
                                                                                      Very truly yours ,
